Jakarta, Java: A Quick Layover

Jakarta is Indonesia’s capital and is home to over 9.5 million people. The city is one of the world’s greatest megalopolises.  In fact, it is not only the most populous in Indonesia but in Southeast Asia as a whole.

We decided to fly into Jakarta over Yogyakarta (our first destination) to save money. It is much cheaper to fly into Jakarta over Yogyakarta (by hundreds). There is also a convenient 8-hour train that travels directly to Yogyakarta. The ride is long but if you book the executive train (leaving from Gambir train station) the ride is comfortable. Our train had pillows, blankets, reclining chairs, and A/C.
